Great architecture and design needs drama to both delight and challenge our visual senses. Function and form coming together to create unusual yet pleasing purposeful living spaces, and nowhere is this more evident than with a barn conversion.
These projects naturally allow the readily accepted and understood housing design rules of today to be challenged; balancing the practical simplicity of a rural building with all the necessities and expectations of modern day living. Space, height and scale allow
for creative, dynamic designs combining multiple, interesting materials.
The interior and exterior work in harmony, seamlessly combining the past and future use of the space. This could be through utilising rustic, agriculturally-inspired traditional materials or contrasting with a modern minimalist design.
Our quest for beauty and perfection led us to these beautiful large format porcelain tiles and our design team had the perfect project in mind for them. Their delightful aged appearance and the inspired mix of wood and decorative tile pieces bring a decadent feel underfoot, yet are hugely practical porcelain in real life. They have to be seen to be believed. The spacious open plan ground floor presented the opportunity to accentuate the different living areas through design. Positioning the decorative tiles together created the seated living area, while pale aged terracotta balanced the intensity of colour across to the kitchen and dining space. In our view, the perfect marriage of style and practicality.
